Interesting points, Tim. The way writers feel about News Break, I feel towards Medium too. Their pay is inconsistent, they keep changing the rules and who knows, one day Medium might disappear. Building a business on rented land is never a good idea. So is getting distracted by every shiny new thing. That's why I think building a self-hosted blog is a better bet. You don't get the rewards immediately, you play the long game but its worth it.
